Outreach Program | Baras Rizal
January 12, 2016
Charity works is what I've always been wanting to do. Being able to share what i have to other people is a privilege and fulfillment. I may not have everything in life but at least even in my own little ways i can give back the blessings that I've received. 2015 has been very good to me. I was blessed more than enough which I'm really very thankful.
I have been lucky enough to be a volunteer in an outreach program organized by the company that i'm working. When they asked for few volunteers i didn't hesitate to sign up. This has been my first involvement in a charity work for this year, 2016.
The event was held last Jan 9, Saturday, at Malalim Elementary School in Sitio Malalim, Brgy . San Juan, Baras, Rizal. The school is quite small and it caters to students from Kindergarten to 6th Grade. The school is situated in a mountainous area.
It was my first time travelling in Baras Rizal and I must say that the road is more like going to Baguio, steep and zigzag. We departed from our meeting place in Taguig at around 7:00AM and we arrived in our destination around 9:00AM. We were around 20-25 volunteers.
As I have mentioned, the school is located in a mountainous area and the road is very rough (like bukid talaga) so we have to leave the coaster and hike up the hill to make our way to the school. Bringing all our stuff (food, slippers which will be given to the students, air cooler, etc.) we walked 5-10 minutes till we reached the school. We were greeted by the students when we entered the school. They prepared some dance numbers for us. Seeing them happily dancing and energetically welcoming us determined me most to share whatever i can to them.

We prepared different games for the students; paper dance, pass the ball and "Pera o Bayong" where in the winner took home Php1500 (he chose pera and ang laman ng bayong na pinili nya ay air cooler which we donated nalang sa school). We also had a feeding program for them. The last part of the event was the giving of slippers (lakas maka RatedK) lol.
My first-time trip to Baras Rizal was indeed worth it. Seeing the student's happy faces and hearing them say "thank you" is really more than enough. I was very lucky and fortunate to have shared and spent that day with them.
I'm really looking forward for more charity works in the future.
Please feel free to write your comments and/or suggestions.
