My first trip out of the country and my first Hong Kong experience. It wasn't my first time riding a plane but it was my first time facing an immigration officer which to me was the scariest part of it all. I know a friend who has been offloaded twice at the airport so I was so afraid and praying that it won't happen to me and thank God I experienced no issues with the IO. I was only asked two questions, how long have I been working, coz according to the immigration officer I look like a minor (I don't know if it was a compliment or something that I should be scared of so i just smiled)second question was the health card that our company uses, maybe to validate if I'm really working.
Fort Santiago's main entrance. |
It was raining when we visited the place so we asked "mamang kotsero" (cab driver) to drop us off at the Fort Santiago entrance. There were few modern establishments built in the area but the old Filipino-Spanish cultures and structures were still very visible. We also spotted many "guardia civil" (this is what the guards are called during Spanish era) along the road.
Eleven days from now (as of the writing of this post) and I'll finally step out of the country for the first time. I have never felt this excitement in my life before, butterflies are flying crazy in my stomach. I have been planning this trip for the last two years and the most awaited date in my calendar by far for this year is fast approaching.
Preparations
Passport is ready and excited to get it's first ever tattoo, back and forth plane ticket are ready, hotel accommodation for 4 nights and 4 days is ready, pocket money has long been saved up, almost everything's set except for the itinerary. haha! I have been doing my research and there're quite few must-visit places in Hong Kong so I haven't really made up my mind yet as to what places I'm gonna include in the itinerary or maybe I'm gonna have to fit em all in our 4 day tour.
